What is Rotaract?

Rotaract is a Rotary project so let's start with 'What is Rotary?'...

Rotary is an international, non-political organisation with around 34,000 clubs and 1.22 million members around the world. Their purpose is to bring together professionals and people with initiative who want to make a difference by offering a humanitarian service. This involves raising money and volunteering in aid of worthy causes. You must be 30yrs and over to become a Rotary member.

So back to Rotaract... Currently there are approximately 8200 clubs (120,000 members) worldwide. Each Rotaract club is a Rotary project and is for individuals aged between 18 and 30yrs. This Rotaract Club is sponsored by Rotary Club Larnaca Kition. We are an international club meaning that all meetings and communication is conducted primarily in English.

What's our purpose?

The purpose of a Rotarct club from the rotary perspective is to promote the development of young people. This means helping young people to improve their skills (things like leadership, initiative, confidence, problem solving etc.), helping them network and meet people who can further their careers and education but also by providing opportunities to attend events and trips that focus on personal / professional development and international / cultural understanding.

Our purpose as Rotaract members is to take initiative to organise events and activities that better our community, our world, encourage international understanding and promote culture. Through these activities we're able to develop our personal and professional skills and make a wealth of contacts along the way!
